its okay to feel nervous. having your speech written on paper would at least allow you to read it and get the task over. make it short and choose a subject you are familiar with. in time you'll be more confident. try practicing at home before a mirror. nothing beats preparation. while doing your speech, look at someone you are comfortable looking at or look over everybody's head, that way you are looking at all of them but not anyone in particular. put your hands in one place, like on the podium if there is any, or at your sides. having it flaying one side to another would make it worse for you. stand straight and just get it over with.

If you have time to practice what you're going to say ahead of time, then try this. Take the very first thing in your speech, and relate it somehow to a physical object. It could be a play on words, or just something that represents the main idea. Let's say that you relate the first part of your speech to the idea of a frog. Then, you close your eyes and imagine that you are standing in front of the class, and imagine a frog sitting up in your empty desk and writing something. Then, when you stand up to speak, look at your empty desk. You will think of the frog, and the frog will immediately remind you of the first part of your speech. No more empty mind!
I hope this makes sense!

Make an extra effort to practice in front of a mirror and then find a couple of friends to practice on. Video tape yourself and then watch it and see where you could improve. Always before you start, take a deep breath and speak in a moderate rate. Keep your notes in front of you with "key" words that should help remind you about where you are in the speech. Don't give up, with practice you'll be AWESOME!!!

First of all, your brain is not empty. Secondly, there is nothing to fear from the people you're talking to. They want to hear what you have to say. They are not your enemy. Even if you make a mistake, nobody's going to die because of it. I used to be terrified to speak in front of a group until I developed some theatre skills in acting. You might think about taking a drama course or two and acting in a play.

I used to have that problem. The only way to overcome that fear is to conquer it. If you have good friends, maybe they will let you practice your speech in front of them. Otherwise, take a debating class or join a toastmaster's club. You just need to get used to being in front of other people. Looking back, I can't believe I was that shy, but it was crippling when I was young.

Yes, that's exactly what I want to know because I go through the same thing.
It's ridiculous how nervous I get sometimes.
Then, when it's done, I feel stupid for being so nervous :[
