Noone really knows for sure. The most likely explanation at the quantum level has to do with the fact that gravity is mediated by a spin-2 boson (the graviton) instead of spin 1 like the other forces, so gravity can't be reversed or screened. Since we may never actually detect a graviton without reactions many orders of magnitude more energetic than we can make now, this will be hard to prove. So we just postulate the non-quantum effects of gravity--either Newton's way or Einstein's way depending on how much space and mass and time you are dealing with.

The irreversible deposition of particles with field-induced magnetic moments perpendicular to the deposition surface provides a model system for exploring the effect of interparticle interactions that are independent of any particle/surface interactions. It is shown, for the first time, that interparticle interactions can influence crucially the particle configurations formed on the surface solely through the trapping of particles away from that surface. This effect is illustrated by the comparison of the radial distribution functions and of the number density fluctuations in two experimental conditions aimed at revealing the influence of the magnetic field.

Gravity is the deformation of space-time by mass. To reverse it would require changing the structure of the universe as we now understand it.

gravity is irriversible to man because we do not posses the scientific understanding and technology to control the forces of the universe. such as weak and strong atomic force, gravity and etc. that is milleniums away or perhaps mankind will never uncover the secrets of the universe. we are too primitive in science, technology , and civilization. man has only a little over five thuaosand years of recorded history yet we have existed here on earth for hundreds of thaousands of years . you tell me what in the world were we doing for one hundred thaousand years well it sure wasnt making the wheel and lighting a fire. we didint do didly squat .know we are try to make up for lost time with the latest technology boom but you know what .......its too late its going to take us another hundred thaousand years before we can even travel at the speed of light witch means we wont be going to any oyher planets in the solar system till then.come on man we dont even have the flying cars yet man and that we can do. but on reverse gravity , come on it will never haven for man we are just too stupid. maybe if a star blows up and leaves the black hole or course the effect of gravity will be reversed we dont even have the technology to send a man halfway to the nearset star (the sun) even if one wanted to end his own life by getting sucked into a black hole.

Gravity is one of the fundamental forces (like the electroweak, electrostrong, and nuclear forces) As such, it's a fundamental characteristic of matter. Without it, matter could not exist.

the magnetic pull of the earth from its core is unchangeable. the density of the contents to its core is what pulls all these things into place. much has we feel the fancy of floating, its unlikely to occur. if reversible, the world's equilibrium and order of things will be upset and lots of diff types of accidents will occur.

There may yet be antigravity, something is fueling the expansion of the universe.
