He encouraged steroid use by pushing the guys who had "the look" that Vince thought a wrestling champion should have.
I doubt he gave someone his card and told them to call the number on the back for a package that will make him a star in the WWE. The wrestlers decided for themselves, to find a way to get ahold of steroids because they wanted to become the "top guy" in the promotion. Therefore, I hold wrestlers responsible for the profession they choose.
I believe the reason the WWE has no union among its' employees is the same reason they have no health insurance (though Vince covers all injury/rehab costs WWE wrestlers have to spend) ... Unions and Insurance Companies would likely have required random drug tests for ALL its' members. This means, that at some point, say every three months, you are guaranteed to be tested at least once ... with no limit on the amount of tests they can give a member or insured member. Imagine Triple H being tested every two weeks if the Union/Insurance Company felt it was necessary to keep him healthy.
I do think Vince should take an initiative to stop drug use in his company but the bottom line is whether he cares or he doesn't care, it's not his responsibility to keep his wrestlers healthy. It's the wrestlers' responsibility to keep themselves healthy and to report to their boss if anything if happening with them that shouldn't be happening.

First off, yes...McMahon is bending over because of Congress. He has no choice now, he has to stop steriods in the WWE. He can't do anything about it in other places, but he has no choice but to end it in his company, or Congress is going to do everything they can to shut him down for good this time.
McMahon cares a lot about the suspensions of his superstars, and he'd hoped that after Eddie Guerrero passed away that a lot more guys would take closer looks at themselves and not do theese things anymore. He was depending on the inmates to run the asylum instead of taking charge when it came to the drugs in wrestling. What Chris Benoit did to Nancy and his son was horrible, but it cannot be blammed on Benoit working for the WWE. Benoit was a grown man who knew what he was doing...brain damage or not, steriods or not...Chris wasn't a dumb guy. It sucks that Benoit turned into whatever it is that the brain damage and steriods did to him and he was able to resort to killing people he obviously loved very much. I don't know what happened behind closed doors...but it saddens me to know that the 3 of them are now dead, that the WWE may have had it's death nail placed in it's coffin....and that wrestling might take 10 years or longer to fully recover from this.
I don't know if Vince ever "encouraged" steriod use or abuse...as they tried to say he did in the early 90's and congress got made fools off then. However, I don't think he ever stoped a guy from doing them, and I don't think he cared...as long as the guy had the look and size he liked...and he could cut a promo....Vince liked it. It didn't matter to him...not until enough deaths happened and some of them hit home like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. To me, that is when Vince had to start caring a little bit more.
The wellness policy has been used for good, and for bad things..and that is a shame. It's been used to out obvious steriod users like Chris Masters, Andrew Martin and the recent 10 man suspension of WWE superstars....but it's been a bad thing because they used it to politic Kurt Angle out of WWE because of his injury history. Well, that became TNA's gain....you don't cross someone unless you are prepared to have that guy actually stand up for himself and move on with his life. Vince obviously didn't expect it as he thought Kurt would remain loyal..and come back to the WWE in a year.....nope....Kurt instead signs with TNA and the rest is history.
McMahon while he is upset about the storylines....he'll find away to explain the missing guys for 30 days....or 60 days in the case of Randy Orton. (Randys' suspension starts after the sep. ppv). In the cases of Edge and Gregory Helms...they are out with injuries...so it won't effect storylines on them anyway.
What doesn't make sense is how they will explain King Booker, William Regal, John Morrison and Mr. Kennedy all being out as well as the others for 30 days.
It's a shame really.

of course. i can see it now. all the people that got suspended, mcmahon had a private meeting with saying dont order from this company. you will be suspended without pay, but when you return, you will get a bonus so in the end no money will be lost.the only reason this is happening is because of benoit. vince now wishes he never met benoit. it cost him millions. question: all the other mass murderers, o.j., etc. they must have been on steroids? right?

Yes he is only following through now because he is in deeper water then the first time. If you have been following wrestling as long as I have.....He likes his men big...he used to use roids himself.
It isn't only the roids..he pushes his wrestlers to the limit....they get tired.....and overworked!! If the wrestlers don't follow what he wants..they get fired!!
I'm sure his Dad would be freakin out by now...

No more than Major League Baseball is. The only reason they cracked down on steroids was because of congress and others cracking down on them.
**** rolls down hill.

nicely, a sparkling expert wrestling e book has been realeased. Named Ring Of Hell: the story of Chris Benoit and the fall of expert Wrestling. contained in the e book it secure something many won't be attentive to. It pronounced that Vince had at the instant been (probable) been addicted to cocaine. "The e book says that Vince pronounced i will chortle as a lot of that stuff as every person can put in front of me and in no way get hooked."
