Can I tell you a quick story. A boy comes home from Jr. High to find his family moved out. It takes him three days to find his mother who has left his dad. His dad is a very brutal person who belittles his family and his mother plays major favorites. The boy grows up, serves his country, and learns a good trade and supports his wife and son. His wife ends up in and out of mental hospitals and his son is born with a bilateral cleft palate and lip. His own self-esteem is in the basement and he becomes hatefully judgmental and critical. All he really ever wants is to be loved, but has a hard time sometimes being lovable. He is a good man, but not always fun to be around. But sometimes he lets his sense of humor out and he genuinely cares about helping other people, even those he is critical of. My dad died a year ago, an I mourn as much for his unused potential as for his passing. Be careful lest we become hatefully judgmental about judging the hatefully judgmental. Everyone has a story. peace

They gain a sense of fleeting satisfaction based in a flawed sense of self importance stemming from severe personal insecurity and ,generally, blatant ignorance and a total lack of empathy.

Or they just suck....

Take your pick.

If they put others down I guess it makes them feel a little better about themselves. The first people to criticize are always the last people that should.
