G'day Alex,

Thank you for your question.

Sasha or Sacha comes from the Russian and Greek as a diminutive for both Alexander or Alexandra similar to Chris for Christopher or Christine. It became popular in the US as a girls name in the 1970's. However, the Russian usage is longer established and has spread to Europe as both male and female. You have well known men such as Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G, Borat) and Sacha Distel.

Regards

acctually Sasha is mainly a mans' name - the full name is Alexander...

but sometimes it can be used as girls name - Alexandra- and short would be Sasha and more often for girls Shura (feminive form of Sasha)

But it's all up to you how you would want people call you - Sasha or Shura or Alexandra

good luck

russians also use Misha for Michael. They've been using those names for centuries. Sasha is a nickname in russia so it doesn't matter if it sounds girly or not. lots no name used now got their start as surnames or from the opposite gender.
