I'm 21. I've been a D cup practically since I was 13 and they haven't grown or shrunk since but I've never been properly fitted. but on recent trips to the department store I seem to need a DD bra. Is it possible for them to grow after 8 years of not growing? They are already too big and I don't want them any bigger. I have gained some weight but only like 5 or 10 pounds. In the past I've gained and lost more and I still remained a D cup.

Maybe you don't need the DD cup but a bra in D in the next step higher number wise. A friend of mind has bras in two different cup sizes and different numbers depending on the style and cut of the bra. One bra is a 36C while the other a 34D if you understand what I am getting at. Also with weight gain some fat does accumulate in the breasts.

For starters, cup size is determined by measuring around the body at the nipple line and then around the ribcage below the breasts. The cup size is the difference in inches between one measurement and the other, so going from D to DD does mean a change in breast size. If your ribcage is getting bigger or you're getting bigger all around the number will also increase.
That being said, it is very common for certain women to gain weight in their breasts before anywhere else. It's genetics- some women show weight gain in their tummies, some in their butts and others in their breasts.
You may want to consider breast reduction surgery if it really bothers you. Otherwise, don't worry if the bra sizes are changing.

Different brands of bras have different sizing. Just like you fit into a size 8 at one store, but you have to wear a size 12 at another. You haven't changed. The only thing that changes breast size is pregnancy/nursing and massive weight gains or losses

DD isn't about a cup size really. It's about your girth. You are becomming wider. You probably don't like the sound of that, but that is the truth.

Ever notice what a big difference there is between a 36D and a 38 D is? Compare the cups (you'd expect the only difference to be in the band width) they are not the same size cups. With that said, try a 40D. I bet it will fit like a dream. Why does a guy know this? Because I am married and I've been through this.

if you don't want to admit to the "40" part, just cut the tag out and get used to COMFORT over the numbers.

...as you can see, there is some major complexity to this whole bra fitting thing. In fact, I read the majority of women don't have the right fitting bra. It appears to be a science and art.

I think the "best answer" would be to go and be professionally fitted. I bet there are so many advantages to a custom-fitted one...that would make such a giant difference. Just to go spend a few minutes with an expert would give you insights that you might never know otherwise. Most the time someone that is knowledgible about those problems has had problems with ill-fitting bras themself.

No your breasts haven't grown but you did say you put on weight and sometimes the design of the bra may have a say in the matter. Say one brand makes them slightly smaller or the cut of one bra is ok for a D cup but you may need a bigger cup for another style of bra. By the way women's boobs grow a cup size after they hit thirty so get ready when 30 approaches.

If they do grow again (not terribly likely, but I never really think that anything is impossible), and they're too big for you to support properly, most insurance will pay for breast reduction surgery. Good luck.

Weight gain deposits fat into the breasts. I was always a 36A, but now after gaining weight thought the years, I am a 46, but need a 36B cup. Try finding that size!!! I finally found sarong style bras that fit.

At 21 you're just ending puberty. So it could be the tail end of puberty kicking your butt. Also if you're done now weight gain and lose is going to change how it affects you. Weight can definitiely make your boobs bigger.
