I was watching CNN when they flashed that Pavarotti has died. It was a good decision by me to download "Nessun Dorma" and heard it earlier. I'll hear it again now in his honor. May he rest in peace.

Yes, his fame transcended opera to the point that he was known by those that didn't even listen to classical music. Now that's talent!

Just thought I'd add this: his guest performance at the Winter Olympics at Torino in 2006.

A great voice and a true champion of the people has been silenced. He transcended opera and became known in all genres of music by all. He was much loved. My deepest sympathies to his wife and his children - especially his beautiful little Alice. Pax- C

I am deeply saddened by the news of Pavarotti's passing. He was truly a Godsend to us. His voice always brought tears to my eyes. A truly beautiful man. A tragic loss to the Opera world, Italy, and the whole WORLD.
MAY HE REST IN PEACE.

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime voice; I'm grateful for recordings.

He does have a very young daughter (like two or three years old, I think); perhaps Alice Pavarotti is a name to remember for the future?

It was shocking and also sad to hear that Pavoratti died. We truly lost a great legend in the opera and music scenes.

My first genre is 50's R&R but I do have a few recordings of "good" singers. That was a kind of voice that could bring tears to your eyes with it's clarity and beauty
