Court records are available but it may cost you in time and money unless you're able to go to the state in question.

It depends on which state the court case was held; some states require you to do an abstract of judgment search in each county (or parish, etc) within the state. Other states have a state-wide database of judgments making the search much easier and cheaper. Like the answer above, a good place to start would be a call to the superior or municipal court clerk of the most likely county (parish, ward, etc) where the case would have been heard.

Call the clerk of court for the area where the case is. They may be able to locate it by the names of the parties involved.
