I agree with yours and Mitt's position. That's the governments main purpose. To protect us and our freedoms from foreign powers.
In regards to the whole privacy, civil liberties complaint. If you aren't doing anything wrong, what is there to worry about? To think the FBI is just gonna listen in on random people and their boring phone conversations is ludicrous.

Comming from Massachusetts I would never vote for Mitt Romney after seeing how much he screwed up here. Why do you want the government taxing you? Why do you want your kids to go to public schools that teach nothing? Security has been proven to be a joke. Ron Paul has my vote and no I am not a Democrat or a liberal, I believe government should get out of our lives.

Ron Paul is right. The Federal Government didn't start growing out of control until the amendment was passed to enshrine Income Confiscation into the Constitution. And yes, I consider the bloated military budget to be just another means of sending tax revenue into the coffers of businesses. People really don't realize exactly how much of their money is taxed, taxed and taxed again. You are taxed on your paycheck when you earn it, you are taxed on your purchases when you spend it, the goods you buy a portion of the price tag is taxes on the manufacturers side. Taxed, Taxed and Taxed again. We can do better, it's really sad however to see so many otherwise allegedly intelligent people who are so enamored of huge government controlling their lives that they find the concept of being free frightening.

A lot of candidates SAY a lot of things and the more they SAY the less I trust them. That is like a parent taking their child to the fair and SAYING you can have everything you want today is your day. But in a few hours after the kid has eaten a lot of junk food and threw up a couple times, your wallet is empty and the kid is still demanding more junk food and more rides you have to SAY this is not good for you. You cannot have anything else to eat there is no money for anything else. So it is easy for candidates to SAY things people want to hear to get elected but SAYING it does not mean it will get done. I like a candidate that does not promise me all the stuff I want because he is smart enough to know being president does not give him a magic wand he can wave and fix all the problems people want fixed. I will take a candidate that does not promise to fix much and is honest about it over one that will promise to fix all the problems knowing that is impossible.

you say "we need to do everything we can to protect our livelihood." however you must understand that our civil liberties are what make our livelihood possible. with out them we are not americans and the terrorist win. remember before 9 11 our intel had info about the attacks. they were able to get the info with out spying, holding americans in camps and torturing. just because people in high government positions did not protect us doesnt mean we should give up our liberties. to feel "safe"

I Have been trying to figure out for months how he expected to win with a campaign based on removing all of the departments that protect the very freedom he exercises every day. This is why everyone laughs at him!!

Most of the things he wants to abolish are provided by state governments.
He is saying he wants to let the states govern themselves.

All I could do was shake my head on all of Ron Paul's answers. No FBI, no CIA...I don't think the man has thought out the plans he wants.
