Humor (see I spelled it right, ha ha ha). Look at this forum for a perfect example. Most of the people on here who are trying to be humorous are being cruel because they think it's funny. I don't know how it is in the UK, but people in the US are so often just sitting around waiting to be offended by someone else. We need a few belly laughs over here to relieve the tension.

Common sense is a myth. It's basically what people appeal to when they're losing an argument. I love the Albert Einstein quote: "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen."

I think most people I know are pretty compassionate, but the world they live in is so messed up that they don't know how to help to make it a better place...

Common sense - the idea of thinking before you speak or act holds big weight with me. You would have to have intelligence to think and you need the intelligence to derive the meaning of compassion and what you find humorous. Common sense is also necessary when using judgment and setting people (the human race) into general categories which no one has the right to do. Can't generalize an entire population of people by saying we like to use our fists first - thats not true or everyone finds certain jokes offensive. That to me boils down to common sense. JMHO

To me it is common sense to have compassion for another fellow human being. Common sense usually comes from intelligence (how else could you accurately point out a particular as being "common sense" if you are ignorant to anything but your own opinion) and intelligence is usually derrived from higher learning. I can't say humor is missing most from society as we can easily find humor anywhere (tv, internet, newspaper, books, your neighbors). So in short it would be intelligence.

i will comprehend why some human beings experience that way. i do no longer think of they're undesirable human beings; they probable have had some undesirable reviews related to those communities. the two that, or they have been purely raised that way. i've got confidence sorry for the former, yet no longer the latter considering i replaced into raised the comparable way. EDIT: i'm no longer attempting to be rude, yet have you ever had a foul adventure related to yet another race? I even have, and that i nonetheless decide for to no longer carry that against them. besides the fact that, i'm conscious that a brilliant form of different persons does no longer do the comparable. tremendously if that they had no previous exposure to that race. i'm no longer attempting to make excuses for those human beings, besides the fact that it is no longer stable to think of that each physique people who've prejudice are stupid, or that they lack straight forward experience. while somebody is battered, or if something invaluable to them has been taken away, it is person-friendly for his or her thoughts form their suggestions

-Compassion and empathy are lacking in the US. We prefer fists first, talk later.
-The majority of what passes for humour in the US is insulting to both men and women.
-I don't know if it's intelligence and common sense that is lacking so much as the lack of critical thinking skills that is the huge problem in the US. It's not a recent phenomena either, when you teach by rote, you don't produce independent thinkers.

Intelligence is probably most lacking in society today as people no longer seem to be willing to apply critical thinking to what they read or are told by whomever they perceive as an authority figure.
