Hi there. I was just on MSN and learned that opera singer Pavarotti had passed away. Thats very sad. He will be missed. My question is, didn't he once star in a movie where he played (of all things) an opera singer? If so, what was the name of that movie (I believe it came out in the 80's)?

I believe it was "Yes, Georgio" and it didn't garner a lot of critical acclaim.

Rovale is correct, Yes, Giorgio is the movie, 1982 and he was roundly panned by the critics, in this movie.
He was seen to better advantage in Jean Ponnelle's adaptation of rigoletto for TV. He also did a short piece of 85 minutes in 1986 about his trip to china called Distant Harmony.
He was the only Opera Singer to appear on Saturday Night Live and this brought opera to people who would not normally hear it. Now he sings with the Angels.
Be sure and tune in tonight at PBS for their tribute to him, it starts at 8:00 .
