Has anyone done this? Any unique suggestions on what to do? We want to renew our vowels and celebrate with our kids and family. We've not only been married over 30 years, but we dated for almost 9 before marrying! I want to make this not only special to us, but for our kids and their spouses and to be a role model. Thank you very much.

I have never done this so here goes , celebrate with a 1950's theme when family values was what mattered. The Leave It To Beaver Era dress within that time , everybody bring something for the potluck in picnic baskets rolled up jeans ,slicked back hair have the kids be a part of this time in life that they have no idea of what it was like . share photos , of when you were both children , then thru teens when you met. Go back in time if just for that day and cherish the love that remains to this day. congratulations on your lasting love , it rarely exist in this day and age. It's just one idea. Wishing you much happiness and another 30 years!

I think its a great idea. I don't know if the kids you have came before or after you two got married but if they did come after it will give them a chance to really be apart of it this time. Also you have a whole 5 yrs to save money to make the second wedding just perfect. My husband and I have been married for 4 yrs and we are wanting to do a "renewal" at 20 yrs. I hope your second wedding is wonderful!

I'm only 27, so I haven't personally experienced this...but, congratulations!!!!! You & your husband have reached a point in marriages that not many people get to anymore! How very special for you! I think it's a great idea to renew your vows!!! I have friends who's parents have done it--and it turned out wonderfully & was beautiful! Is there anyway that you can renew your vows at the same church you were married at? Do you have children who are going to be able to share this with you? involve them somehow!

Congratulations again!

That has got to be the romantic thing I have ever heard. You are so lucky in finding what most people never will.Truly congratulations on a job well done.I personally don't know anyone who has ever done that everyone I know has gotten divorced after maybe 10yrs. at the most.I wish you all the best and hope you and your hubby have 30 more years together. As far as any suggestions I have always thought of a white sandy beach, sunset in the background,a simple yet sort of flowing sundress, island flowers in someones hair, barefooted, like an island theme. But anyways lot of luck to you and again CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents did for their 25th and 50th anniversaries. We had a big reception and dancing for both parties. They became first time grandparents on their 25th also. Now they have over 40 grandchildren! (I have eleven brothers and sisters).

We passed on the vow renewal for our 25th but went to Italy as a celebration. We plan to go to Paris for our 30th in 2008.
