I saw a question this evening about Iraq being a forgotten war. What about Afghanistan? Now that's a forgotten war. We are just permitting Al Qaeda to train in Pakistan and continue their terrorism. Why?

I disagree with the notion that Afghanistan is a done deal. Its where the troops should be. They should not have been redeployed to Iraq. I have in the past supported this action the Taliban turned badly against us after we supported them. They have an extreme ideology. You should check out a great video on National Geographic called Inside the Green Berets. Those guys know how to win this kind of conflict. They are mature, invite dialogue with the tribal guys, wear beards etc. They realize they are not there to turn Afghanistan into a shopping mall with McDonalds on every corner. They know that people dont want to live under the Taliban. They conduct themselves in the perfect good guy role. For instance in one segment the capture a guy thats a spotter someone who is relaying their movements to possible enemies. Do they beat the crap out of the guy? No they treat him better than he would have been treated by his own. People realize and appreciate good deeds they have a positive impact there.

because we've pretty much won the war in Afghanistan. yeah, there's still some sectarian violence there but for the most part it is secure and, what's more, has a stable government, whereas Iraq's government couldn't find its way out of a wet paper bag. hopefully Pakistan will be next, and Iran after that

The "forgotten war" is just a leftist propaganda slogan. They trump the importance of Afghanistan as a way to diminish the importance of Iraq.

America must win both. We defeated Germany and Japan simultaneously we can defeat these cave dwellers as well.

If we lose a war again we will be frozen militarily again, just like after Vietnam.

Because the biggest effect of the Afghan war is the huge increase in opium production by the war lords who have profited from the Taliban being removed from power.

because Republicans either:

A. don't know who the terrorists are

or

B. just don't care

I'm not sure which?

I am much more concerned with Afghanistan...

and does anyone else think it's odd when the terrorists are playing up Iraq so much... ever heard of reverse psychology
