Wanna know something interesting? Al Jourgensen may have been from Chicago, but he lives in my hometown now... have talked to him a couple of times

The artists from my hometown:
Bobby Fuller
Debbie Reynolds
At The Drive In
The Mars Volta
Sparta
These three bands put our city on a map - but so did Marty Robbins

Oh yeah, and Debbie Reynolds and Marty Robbins aren't rock stars but I figured, they were regarded as the equivalent during the golden age of music and cinema nonetheless

The Fireballs their biggest hit was "Sugar Shack" They still live in Clovis, NM. Check out Norman Petty Studio. I will add a link below. Also
By 1956, a frustrated Buddy Holly first came by the studio.
Buddy Knox, Roy Orbison, The Fireballs, String-A-Longs,
and countless others helped make Norman Petty one of the first independent
producers of rock & roll, and one of its most successful.
Norman & Vi played on several of Buddy’s recordings,
with Norman also receiving co-writing credit for many of Buddy & The Crickets’ hits.
He managed the group until the early 60s; The Crickets were signed to Liberty Records,
and Norman got busy with The Fireballs & String-A-Longs,
who recorded the smash hit “Wheels”, and earned another BMI Writers Award for Norman

Archie Bell (of The Drells)
Beyonce/Destiny's Child
Point Blank
Larry Gatlin
Lightin' Hopkins
King's X
Roy Head
Albert Collins
Others are from close to here. People like Janis Joplin, JP "The Big Bopper" Richardson, & Bo Diddley. It's no more than a coupla hrs. drive from Houston to where they are from.
That's all the ones I can think of rite off the top of my head that come from Houston Texas.

How bout I list a few from the surrounding areas?
Isaac Brock - the Quah (Issaquah that is...but it seems he's living in Portland now)
Chris Cornell - Seattle
Seaweed - Tacoma
MXPX - Bremerton
Andrew Wood - Bainbridge Island
There was a metal band called Forced Entry and one of the members lived in Lynnwood.
Don't think I need to list the most obvious.

That's true about Jourgensen. He ditched Chicago after supplying heroin to a local poet who then ended up ODing. I like Ministry and all but you can keep old Al, lol. We used to have an awesome music scene in the 90's. Now we have:
Plain White T's
Fall Out Boy
The Academy Is...
Chevelle
Madina Lake
Disturbed
Draw your own conclusions.
Kraziegurl listed all the great stuff from the glory days, good job.
Chuck Mangione rocks, LMAO!
