can a platy fish be all orange they have no spot on the tail at all

Yes; I actually have two that visitors mistake for goldfish because they are completely orange. The variety is "sunset fire". They're orange all over, but they do darken towards the tails as they are introduced into a secure environment and feel safer.

Generally that's a color more common to swordtail. Telling the female platy from a female sword is near impossible. Plus they interbreed with each other.

No because fish can't colour their own. I will be coloured by the environment, the food they eat, and their health. Fishes are can take care in their lives in the sea, but in a aquarium you'll shall take care for them or me too.
