I'm not looking for a prescription. I'm only able to get 6 or 7 hours sleep before I HAVE to get up. I have lots of things to do as a single parent and not enough time to do it in. I'm constantly tired during the day and the sleep I get doesn't feel like good sleep. I drink coffee throughout the day but it doesn't seem to help much. Ephedrine products went off the market a few years ago so I'm trying to find something to help me stay awake longer and be more alert. Please no speaches about needing rest and whatnot. I can't get any more sleep and the coffee isn't working. What can I do?

Too much coffee will release stress hormones. That'll wear you down. Honestly... get some child care. To live on a reduced amount of sleep, you have to be really healthy. Single parenting is stressful. You need help. If you can't afford it, do you have a church or a single parent's association in town that could assist you?

There is no magic substitute for sleep. The coffee isn't helping the quality of your sleep. You will be able to function better and complete tasks more efficiently, and enjoy life more too!, if you get enough good quality sleep. You owe this to yourself. Even if you had drugs that would help you get along with less sleep and poor quality sleep, you would be hurting yourself. The brain needs sleep. People who don't get enough sleep don't think well. They also OFTEN fall asleep while driving. I hope you remember that you have someone depending on you for everything and you cannot afford to take risks like that. GET MORE SLEEP!

The coffee is partly the cause of your problem. You may also May need a different mattress. Yoga breathing will help you relax more at night, do in morning also. Try some earbal Melatonin. This helps sleep and gives you a better memory as a side effect!
