What is your earliest memory? Be truthful. We are trying to establish who is the oldest philosopher here. Mine is watching Captain Kangaroo or maybe Howdy Doody. Anyone beat that?Pax- C

Wow Pix - that is so cool. I never heard my mother tell that story before.

Actually whoever said age has nothing to do with it is only half right. I defer to Edgar Lee Masters here... from his wonderful Spoon River Anthology

In youth my wings were strong and tireless,
But I did not know the mountains.
In age I knew the mountains
But my weary wings could not follow my vision —
Genius is wisdom and youth.

I remember going to the local Jim Dandy Market with my mother as she returned our used bacon grease in a 1 lb coffee can to the grocer for the war effort during WWII.
I think she told me it was used for lubricating the ammo during production but I'm not sure.

Why would anyone want to waste their time with that quest? Wisdom doesn't come with age and age itself is no reward.
But since I am already typing: When I was young, the Dead Sea was still alive.

I have a lot of memories from when we lived in Indiana and I was only 5 when we moved, but my earliest would have to be playing in the carport although I was told not to, and breaking a coke bottle. My mom asked me if I did it and I told her no. She said "okay, but you know who knows." I said, "yes, mommy, Jesus knows, and I did it, but please don't spank me." I didn't get spanked :)

I remember washing on a small black/white TV the first Lunar landing with my grandparent. He doesn't believe that the event was true....and maybe he was right.
