i strongly believe it's more important to make mistakes than to take advice. i dont think anyone should give advice if they havent experienced the situation themselves. do you agree?

*I disagree !!!!
Its better if u take the advice of an experienced and reliable person !!!!
Thereby, avoiding the mistakes of yr advisor, u can travel much further than him/her !!!!!! rather than falling & getting up and then proceeding in life !!!
Best way to avoid the pitfalls and then no harm in learning something more on yr own!!!

No, I don't agree at all.
We will all make mistakes and we may learn, but we may repeat the same mistake also.
Hopefully, we do learn from our mistakes if that's what you'll call them.
We all need advice and it's up to us as to whether or not to take it.
A person who has been through a similar situation may be more understanding and have good advice or not.
Making mistakes and taking advice can or can't build character.
Character comes from much more than making mistakes; living, suffering, struggling, morals, values, principles, upbringing, no upbringing, poor, rich, black, white, too much goes into a persons character.

Everyone should learn from their mistakes. This is a vital part of growing up. Another part of growing up is learning how to evaluate advice from others. If you tell people your problems, and sometimes if you don't, you're going to get lots and lots of advice in your life. Some of it will be good, some disastrous. In a way, learning which advice to take is also learning from your mistakes.

I don't agree that you have to experience something to be able to dispense good advice. I've gotten lots of good advice from friends and professionals who have never had my experiences. I've also given good advice to my friends and family about problems that I've not experienced. Think about it. As you grow, you observe the behaviors of others and learn from their mistakes and successes without ever having had their experiences first hand.

I agree. You learn best by your own advice and the only way to do that is to make mistakes. Everyone feels different about certain things so taking someone's good advise may not be what you believe is right.

In some situations it is better to make mistakes, but never forget that there are exceptions to every rule. I definitely wish there were more kids who would listen to advice about drugs, teen sex, alcohol, college, etc.. The problem is, they make these mistakes and there is no turning back or repairing the damage that is done.

What would this world be if we don't learn from passed mistakes weather they be one of our own or someone else's. Could you imagine everyone making the same mistakes generation after generation. More then now...Yikes

To add I understand about being able to relate to someone having gone threw it also is a great thing to....

Everyone makes mistakes; not much of a choice there.
It takes a certain maturity to accept advice from someone.
Most people speak from experience when they offer advice.
The earnest intention to make your own mistakes speaks well of your bullheadedness. There is a club full of us...we meet once a year in Yankee Stadium...

I definitely believe I learn more by hands on learning, so learning from your mistakes, it's a better dose of reality than someone saying it could happen.
