They say night sweats are connected to the heart. I have them once in awhile. Does your heart seem to race or blood pressure go up? I have to take a tranquilizer when it happens, they call it stress. Common with heart operations but mine were stints. Might check with a doctor.

When I talk to my Dr about certain health concerns that I have had in the past he always asks me if I have been having night sweats. I don't recall what he told me about the significance however it must be a sign or symptom of a particular problem or problems. Although I am unable to give you a definite answer since I am not a medically trained person, I will say this: you should speak to your family physician about this ASAP. If you don't have a family physician, find a Dr that will see you and at least give you a professional opinion and maybe point you in the right direction. I'm sure you should undergo certain tests such as lab tests to analyze your blood to help the Dr make a determination. He (or she) will most likely order a particular blood test or set of tests to provide him (or her) with the basis for treatment and the proper direction to take. Yahoo answers is a great forum for many subjects and even serves as a great starting point for health concerns and issues, however only a medically trained professional is qualified to inform you properly after making an intelligent diagnosis. Let me say this, your night sweats are not normal, however it may be a result of your insulin use before bedtime but only a Dr can give the correct information about it.

I think it may have to do with your blood sugar. Are you on a sliding scale with your insulin? Do you have a bedtime snack? Are you checking your sugar at 2:00 am after you've eaten something? An adjustment in your insulin might be needed, so you need to report this to your doctor or the office nurse.

Grand pa, have you had a stress test lately? You better tell your doctor about your night sweats. I sure can't diagnose an answer for you. Take care and promise to call the doctor.

Wow! You know, I think you may need to have your blood pressure checked and let them check out your cardio-vascular system.
The only time I have seen this was with my Dad and his was from a cardio problem which was linked to his diabetes.
Grand Pa....you do not wait on getting this checked out as it is better to be safe than sorry!
Please let us know what the doctor says. E-mail me for sure!
