I have a son, the result of a one night -stand, very mutual...The mother didn't contact me to tell me she was even pregnant, I imagine she just wants my money now, since I got a paternity test order through child support div. But I actually do want to be a part of his life. He is 9 mo already and I haven't ever seen him. I have only known about him for a couple of months now. I have no contact info on the mother anymore. Okay, so I have agreed to pay child support, but how about some kind of visitation. I have no money for an atterney, so how do I file a petition for visitation through the court myself? Like where do I find the forms, or do I have to have a lawyer to do this? Not what is best, but by law, can I petition myself? Could I hand write one and have it notarized? And don't judge me, I already have two kids who I am fully involved with, my kids mean everything to me, it shouldn't matter how they were concieved!

Congratulations on the birth of your son, I'm sorry you didn't know about him until recently =( .

Go down to your family court(in Superior court house) and ask them what forms you need to fill out etc.. they will guide you through the procedure.

You shouldn't need an attorney unless she is being a cun@ about it and wants to dictate when you see the baby.

best of luck to you =)

The simplest and easiest way to do this! Do it in person! Go and visit your LOCAL court house. However, depending on where you live, you might have to go to your COUNTY court house. Once you get there, visit the Family Law Division and request the form. You may have to pay for the forms, but it's better than paying a lawyer! Word of advice...Court clerks hate their jobs and are miserable workers. They will make sure your experience there is just as miserable, so be patient! Ask questions and make sure, you get the correct forms. Good Luck!

To the best of my knowledge you need a lawyer. He can guide you through the system. Visitation is dealt with in court etc...

If you are the biological father you have every right to see the child. I don't know what state your in but in CA you can visit the child anytime you want if you are the biological father.
