They would have either retired the belt or had a Tournament to determine the championship, with MVP (the top contender) probably winning.

I think they would have had a tournament or put MVP and someone in a match with the winner winning it. I do not think they would have retired the belt.

they would have had a tournament to see who gets it. that seems to be what they do when a wrestler gets injured or suspended and leaves unexpectedly
