If you have lots of energy, time and funds how would you go about creating support groups/agencies and organisations with an aim to improve the present sad situation of demoralised and depressed youngsters and parents?Do you think this age group is the most critical in the making of a great Nation???

I would make the supplementation of omega 3 mandatory (cod liver oil was given around the war years).
I would ensure that children were given more structured sports, using the leisure facilities that are already present (maybe busing them in year groups for one late evening per week).
I would make something like the Duke of Edinburghs award scheme mandatory.
I would take Eastenders off the tv, it paints a bleak picture and we cannot but be affected by its depressing images
I would make classes smaller (just by restructuring it could be done - class room assistants take half the class for the morning, reading or research, while the teacher teaches, swap for the afternoon).
I would make sure that each pupil left school with their shirt tucked in and blazer on and pause to say 'good afternoon' on their way out .

I would definately agree that this age is crucial, children are at there most impressionable stage and a dose of some good guidance and moral standards would make a great impact on their way of thinking ..Community centres for the less advantaged children would be a good way to spread the word,, visit schools with briefings and spread the word.. offer advice and activities at a level for children to understand .. you could call yourself "the community roadshow " lol

Fund sports programmes, dance centres, music making activities for all! Where we live most kids drop out of sports at primary school level because if they get good at anything the costs of training, equiptment etc gets too high to be sustained in ordinary families. Kids who have been used to being busy and active at primary school age are suddenly left with nothing to do - and hence wander the streets with friends and find all kinds of problems!!
