Gave up on American or any other cartoons. Not much fun anymore.
I guess that I will have to get amused here at Q&A!

I'm with you on this one. I'm a huge fan and collector of cartoons.
I love theatrical cartoons from the 20s-60s. Television animation from the 50s-70s.
Back when Max Fleischer, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Friz Freleng, Bob Clampett, Robert McKimson, William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, Jay Ward and others were creating masterpieces of animation.
Sorry, I can't share your love of 80s cartoons, I look at most of the 80s cartoons as nothing more than 30 minute toy commercials.
But I love what Matt Groening, John Kricfalusi and a few others did in the 90s.

Well for me I prefer Anime over american cartoons because american cartoons just arent smart anymore (but i still have bad grammar). I used to love animaniacs, recess, and batman (fox) but then they started putting those shows on cable (which i didnt have) and then they went off the air completely. I was then left with pokemon (which to my suprise was anime) and some other american cartoons that i dont really remeber. Some of those american cartoons were great but a lot of them were dumb and then they started taking off the great cartoons and replacing them with the dumb ones. Anime provided a more deeper everything and it was new to me so it intrigued me. nowadays there arent many good cartoons out there. So I take whats better. So i guess thats my answer to why I dont watch american cartoons. but i guess you were talking about 80s cartoons. You see they won't put those on dvd.

Most stuff you see today is too episodic and not so memorable. There are a few shows that catch my interest that are not from Japan, but its mainly from Fox.
