If I wanted to kill someone I would use a gun.
If I didn't have a gun I would use a knife.
If I didn't have a knife I would use a rock.
If I didn't have a rock I would use my hands.
If I wanted to kill someone I would... a gun is just the means to get it done, it does not have the will to do it. I would have to supply that.
Just like If I was to dig a six foot deep hole to hide something in. Does it matter if i used a shovel or a spoon? Did either of them really dig the hole, are they given credit for it?
Guns do not kill people, people kill people. A gun just makes it a little easier to get it done.

Why don't we just take away everything that a good person has to defend themselves, and even their knives in their home, any ball bats for they can do some bad damanage on an intruder, and just leave them totally defenseless. If it wasn't guns it would be something else, and guns may be taken from the innocent, but the hullum's on the street and the gangester's will always find a gun if that is what they want, for they are sold on the streets all the time. How about trying to clean the streets up and getting the gangs off the street, along with the drug head's. The growing drug problem sure makes it very easy for our teens, and young people to over dose and kill themselves on drug's while their parent's are off getting on a drunk so they can drive home drunk and kill and mangle some innocent person. It matter not how one would kill for if this is what they want to do they will find away. What is the phrase the killier use to kill people with in drive by shootings? Most of the time it is the innocent by stander's who get shot when a gun they bought off of the street. GUNS DON'T KILL, and it is the dope head, or drunk head that go into the homes of the innocent people to kill, steal, and destroy them while the owner of the house has nothing, not even a gun to protect protect themselves

The first state is wrong anyway, the bullets kill people. Unless you include pistol whipping, which isn't what you talking about. If everyone in the US other than those under age 13 and convicted felons had a concealed weapons permit and carried a pistol. Violent crime would cease to exist. People with the intent to kill will kill. Doesn't matter if they have no arms, no legs, and are wrapped in bubble wrap, they gnaw the persons throat out. Guns make it a far cleaner and more survivable injury. People who don't intend to kill won't point a gun at something they don't intend to destroy, therefore there are few accidental deaths. Guns never are the problem. People are ****** up.

"Guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people." It is true! Guns are not autonomous. They require an operator, a decision by a human to change people's lives - consciously or impulsively. Guns are simply a tool, and have become a metaphor for a bunch of things. Knives kill people. Bare hands kill people. I personally believe that no human has the right to take the life of another. Be that as it may, it is done all the time. Why? Because some people don't agree with me on this point, and in fact are 180 degrees from my stance on this issue. Some people feel it is their prerogative to take what they want without paying for it, or it is their prerogative to lash out verbally and hurt people when they are angry, or feel it is their prerogative to end someone's life for reasons we could never understand. For these people, there are no "rules", there is no respect for humanity or for life. Give them a gun, give them a knife or poison gas, give them land mines and roadside bombs. It doesn't matter. They are willing to kill people, that is the common fundamental decision. I guess I would rephrase it as "GUNS don't kill people, DECISIONS kill people."

A gun has to have the trigger pulled to fire. It cannot do it on it's own. So a person must fire it. So the comment makes sense. The misuse of fire arms is the problem. Not the actual gun.
The founding fathers included the 'right to bear arms' for a very important reason. Whom ever has the guns, has the power. If the government is who has the guns, who has the power?
Read the book, More Guns, Less Crime. How smart is it to ever trust the government to take care of the people who created it? This is another topic for another time.

What do I think of that phrase? Someone actually thinks I like to read their opinions on bumperstickers.
It's old and cliche. Time to come up with something new. But if I had a choice, I prefer "Guns don't kill people. I do!"

I agree with it. It is the people that are the problem not the guns. I have several guns in my house and none of the guns have ever killed anyone. Or been used to kill anyone for that matter.

true because guns only make it easier for people to kill people
back in the day before guns were invented, people were killing people already by bow and arrow and sword
so if u take GUNS out of context, people will still kill people
but if u take PEOPLE out of context, guns will do absolutely nothing
ediT:
btw guns were first made for hunting
and guns are made to make killing easier
technology is all about making something easier and more efficient, not inventing something new to humans like violence and death

Very true, but people own guns. They don't look after themselves. And you have to wonder about the kind of person who owns something that can kill - and that is it's sole purpose.

True. If I wanted to kill someone, and didn't have a gun, I could use a knife. If I didn't have a knife, I could use a spoon. Guns make killing easier. Making gun laws only restricts the law abiding citizens from defending themselves. Criminals aren't worried about the legalities...
