hes, i believe it was effective. It decrease loss of lives and ships.

Yes, it was effective.

I don't have the figures at hand, but survival of ships increased dramatically after convoys were established.

Convoys were a necessity. It would have been impossible for the Royal Navy to have escorted and protected all the necessary shipping if they sailed individually.

With the combination of surface ships, aircraft, and submarines, the Royal Navy was better able to defend the vital supply ships and to detect and destroy German U-boats.

Thanks to experience during the Great War, and the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy had more experience guarding convoys than any other navy.

it was a great idea but they didnt have the ships or man power to enforce it properly. So NO

it wasn't used by the British. it was used for them.
