My wife sustained injury due to a medical product and I'm wondering what kind of information we need to provide a law firm. Can/do they (the lawyers) do any investigating on their own or do we have to provide them all the information they need?
What exactly is necessary for us to file a lawsuit? What can we hope to gain?
Thanks in advance.

The firm will likely take the case on a contingency basis, which means they do not get paid unless you get paid. In these types of cases, their take is usually 30 to 50%. If your claim is worth pursuing, the firm will do whatever it takes to get you and them paid. Remember, no matter what happened to your wife. There were others similiarly situated before her, so the lawyer will just model this case after those.

Most Personal Injury firms do give free initial consultations. I suggest you have one.

It's possible you have a case, and the attorney will advise you what needs to be done to go forward. Some of it they do, some you have to do. They may or may not agree to a contingency fee.

It's also possible that you don't have a case. It could be that your wife suffered a known and disclosed side effect, or some other reason that lets them off the hook.

You'll never find out which on Yahoo!

All this suing is why insurance rates are so high. How did she get hurt? Did she get drowsy or sick and fall?

I would just collect all the information you can. And read the fine print on the label of the medicine. You have to prepare yourself well because most big companies covered their tracks for all instances.
