Stalin chose a policy that forced the peasants to put their land and animal into state-owned collective farms. Those who protested the loss of their land and property were sometimes executed. What would you do in the peasant's position? Would you give your land or how would you handle the situation.

Luckily, as an American I would never be put into that position. However, if I were, being as I have that American mentality, I would fight to keep my land. I would raise crops for the troops, to be sure, but I would fight to keep my land.

Had I been a peasant, I probably would have favored it. After centuries of inconsistent harvests, war, and famine, I would have jumped at the idea of assured food. Had I been a Kulak, however, I probably would have done what many of them did: fight the collectivization order, kill my own animals when the army approached, and been sent to a re-education camp (or summarily executed).

Then again, I wasn't there, so who knows what the heck I would have done...

You cant look at it from a western point of view the russian Psyche is so completely different. Besides if it wasnt stalin then then it was the czar before. no one would fight

Since i wouldn't have fancied wearing fur boots in some Gulag in Siberia, i'd probably go with the flow....
