Your question, especially the "why do you all think we're here", requires a God. Otherwise, the question is meaningless. A mindless natural process such as evolution does not provide the answers to "why" questions. It is like asking a snowstorm why it dropped a snowflake on you.
We can invent a use for our lives but all we will ever do is to invent something that we think will give us feelings of happiness. But there will be no meaning behind the feelings. The idea of spending a life in search of little bits of meaningless good feelings is depressing.
But if we will admit that God might exist, then we can immediately see that He must have put our need for purpose and meaning into our human nature in order to point us to seek Him. So, in that case, seeking God is our purpose and we find our meaning in coming to know Him.

My dad used to say its all about how many people you love and how many people love you. When he passed away the funeral director was helping us plan his visitation and funeral. He said it was standard to have the receiving line for about 3 hours. We knew that a lot of people would want to pay their respects so we had it planned for 4 hours. Well we should have known.... My brother and sisters and I stood for 5 hours listening to all the stories of how he made a difference in their lives, or funny stories, or how much he would be missed. I love you Dad.
