do the following examples describe reproduction or not...thanks =}

-new leaves appear on a tree in spring
-an amoeba divides in half
-a bean plant produces seeds in long pods
-a starfish produces a new arm after losing one to a predator

Yes different kinds of reproduction especially the starfish because it isn't reproduction in the normal sense.

Just the amoeba one. The bean one comes close but the reproduction there is in the next step when the seeds are planted. The other two are just growth, like when your hair gets longer.

leaves are just organ growths. amoeba is cloning itself. bean is giving birth. starfish is healing.

for reproduction to occur genetic material must be exchanged between two lifeforms. the two different sets of genes are then used to create another individual same in species but not in DNA. they dont have to be male or female...

remmember there is a marked diference between replication and reproduction
