Because he answered questions with brutal honesty. I thought he held up quite well considering the ridicule he was subjected to by the moderators of the debate. I thought it was highly unprofessional of them to be laughing when he was asked a question.
I hope he does well in the primaries but with the media setting him up to answer questions that they think will make him look ridiculous (to some people) I'm afraid they will keep trying to make him look bad.

I thought he did a great job!
He has something which the other candidates just don't have, common sense.
Rudy Guiliani bombed! He's just too squishy on illegal aliens.

His friends and family were sitting close to the mic, that's all, a shot out into the audience showed no one clapping and cheering.

Sorry I didn't see it that way. When Brownback rebutted Paul I heard a pretty loud cheer.
EDIT: Might have been Huckabee, I listened on the radio.

He should be the next President but he won't be because the right doesn't like hard truths!

Ron Paul, scared the hell out of me tonight, as a former soldier who has been in Iraq, when he basically said he would let Osama and other terror networks push us around and dictate policy to the U.S., scares the crap out of me, and should every other American in world, I was also deployed to Saudi in the 90's and when Paul said it's our fault that we have bases in Saudi that caused 9-11, shows he has no clue when it comes to national security, and would be a dark day if he was ever elected.
