Esmeralda is a female protagonist from Disney's 1996 animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Mulan and Pocahontas - neither character being a "real" princess ( but have been recently included as princesses)
Alice from Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan - Featuring Wendy Darling and Tinker Bell.
Tarzan's Jane Porter
I personally think the whole princess/prince/royalty thing with Disney is assinine

thats such bull... every female LEAD disney character is either a princess, or has the characteristics of one... i mean, maybe there are a few that aren't all dressed up and spoiled, but they all have that prissy carefree attitude, or they have some special dream or aspiration that they want to accomplish... like alice wanted a fantasy world, then totally switched sides and cryed until someone took pity on her... then cinderella wanted to go to the ball, what an unselfish desire... then mulan (she is probably one of the most decent) wanted to bring honor to her family... everyone who can afford a matchmaker or whatever must be rich enough to be a princess anyway... and then meg in hercules is not a LEAD character, besides, she was power hungry herself... then belle became a princess, so that doesn't count... and esmerelda was basically a gypsy princess because she had a goat and gold jewelry (i dont know what the goat has to do with anything...), and then she got together with that knight guy, and besides, there wasn't really any royalty in that movie anyway... but so she basically became a little princess, well the knight guys little princess, anyway... jane became the jungle princess of the monkeys or whatever after she got with tarzan... and then lilo from lilo and stitch was hawaiin, and she probably would have ended up as a tribal princess if the story actually went that far... and then again, that one is modern day, too, so you never know what could happen... then wendy from peter pan basically ended up as the princess in neverland among all the kids... i mean, they treated her like one... and tinkerbell doesn't count because she is not a LEAD character... and then everyone knows that pocahontas was a native american princess because she was the chief's daughter and all... so there.
