Some people do some dont....everyone has their weak areas when it comes to mental aspects....ive met a few people who are not good in directions either....no big deal just get used to the exact directions...north south east west and use landmarks from time to time such as a unique tree home or building to guide your way. Knowing north south east and west at all times will help combat that

I'm sorry you have this problem. Some people are just like that. I'm the same way. Makes me feel really stupid, all the way to tears and pounding the steering wheel. Yet when a friend tried to guide me a different way than I was used to, we got lost and I nearly had a panic attack. I get lost every single time I try to go to my Dr's. office. Only going 3-4 times a year gives me plenty of time to forget the route. But, I fixed that!
I got a navigation system in my car and I don't care who sees me use it. You can get one starting as low as 179.00, up to 2000.00. I feel much more confident when I start out somewhere now. I absolutely love it! All I have to do is enter a phone # (land line only)or the address (# is far simpler) and off I go.

I honestly a big part of it is that men have a "built in" knowledge of getting around better. I tend also to get lost at times & get twisted around coming & going places. IF I'm not doing the driving myself, that's when I really get messed up. By not actually doing the driving I do not pay attention to where I'm going & therefore couldn't find my way out of a paper bag!!! I think this is more previlent in women for some reason, but then too, I may be wrong. You sure are NOT alone tho....:)

I have a pretty bad sense of direction, too, which is why I love maps. Get yourself a map of the area you drive in and really study it. Then also get one of those little compasses that stick to the dashboard of your car. It may still take you time to get oriented, but less time than otherwise.
I ride buses most of the time, and am frequently startled when I compare my memory of the bus trip to the map. Hey, I thought that was basically south of my house, but it's more west than south.

I know what you mean, it runs in my family, my mother has a bad sense of direction and can't read a map, and both of my brothers and I have a bad sense of direction. I can read a map though. The Mapsco lives in my back seat and is my best friend.

I know, I'm the same way. Just keep doing what you do and don't worry about what your friends say. If they start flapping their lips, just tell them "You're riding with ME aren't ya? Clam up or you can walk! lol Or just tell them that you go this way because it's the way that you're familiar with.
