In tertiary (high level) care centers, the survival rates for babies born at 32 to 33 weeks are very high. Broadly speaking, issues that may present revolve mostly around size, feeding and growing. A baby born seven weeks early is significantly smaller than one at full term, since weight gain is concentrated in those last weeks in utero. Infants this age can be sluggish feeders, capable of taking only very small amounts at a feed and using a lot of their energy to do so, so postnatal weight gain can be an issue. Calorie and vitamin-enriched formulas or fortifiers added to breast milk are often used to provide extra calories and the nutrients not absorbed fully from the placenta. Respiratory distress syndrome, difficulty breathing due to immaturity of the lungs, will be watched for, but isn't as common in a 33 week infant as in a younger one

Pretty high. Lots of babies born around this time usually don't have any problems... there is a possibility of breathing problems and becuase it was born 7wks early it'll have to be kept in the NICU for at least 2 weeks (I've read that is the average). A baby born at 35 or 36 weeks is usually 100% fine and a baby is considered "full term" at 37+ weeks.

I would say pretty good but you don't want to have the baby so early because of medical reason but if you think you may have the baby early one thing you could do is go on bed rest if the doctor hasn't put you on it already but mostly relax an just slow down because a lot of baby born early can have developmental delays or have alot of medical problems but try not to worry or get stressed just drink a lot of water an stay off your feet as much as you can but good luck i wish you the best an good luck with your baby every thing will be fine keep your spirits up an try an rest.

Had my baby at 33 1/2 weeks. He's 3 now. We just went swimming.
The chances depend on the hospital you have him at. Best chances are at one with a NICU.

Pretty good, if the Doctors know you are in early labour they will try to stop it, but if they can't they will give you steroids to mature your baby's lungs so it can have the best chance for survival. Good luck, hope baby stays put for another 5 weeks or so then it will be nearly term (38-40 weeks is full term)

Good chances. These days medical miracles are performed on babies before 30wks gestation. Both my nephew were born between 33 & 35 weeks and they were both strong and healthy. Spent a few days in intensive care obviously to monitor their vitals but other than that no problems.
I guess it all depends on how well your baby is developed at that stage. In the boys case, they were both large babies ( 8lb 12oz & 10lb 1oz)

Pretty good, though he/she might have to stay in the NICU for a little bit. I have twin brothers that were born at 32 weeks, one was 3lb9oz and the other was 4lbs1oz. They had to stay in the hospital for about 2 months but now they are very active and healthy 9 year olds.

He has a very good chance of surviving. But, it will be many weeks before he will be able to come home. They will usually keep them in the hospital until about their estimated due date. The longer babies "cook" the better they do.

Chances of survival are VERY good. They will have to give shots to help the lungs mature, and he will be very small still but nonetheless he should be fine.
Good luck!
