My science teacher has assigned us [8th graders] a science poster project due on on the 11th. We are supposed to describe some events we did this summer, and how they relate to 9th grade physical science concepts.

However, I am having VERY MUCH difficulty trying to figure out concepts that relate to my activities I did this summer. Could you please help me out? :]

A few of my activities include taking a walk outside everyday of my vacation for an hour. I also went on the computer each day and went to a park picnic. At the picnic we did some boy/girl scout activities relying on teamwork and thinking skills.

Please post helpful suggestions for any concepts that relate to the above (: Ask for details anytime, and I will add details to this description. Thank you!!

Here are some thoughts on how summer activities and physical science can tie together. I picked some common summer activities as well as ones you mentioned.

Walk outside: Weather (meterology), changing of the season (as our planet moves through orbit) (astronomy). Did you ever look at the phases of the moon (more astronomy) or the meteor shower in August?

Computer: Depends on what you did on the computer, but there should be some physics involved in the way a computer works.

Spend any time looking at waves on the beach, or tide pools? (Oceanography) Or at a streambed eroding its banks, or funny rocks? (Geology)

Skateboarding, roller skating, biking = physics.

Gardening - turning the soil, testing and adding fertilizer = soil science

Any cooking that you did, including prep for the picnic, involves chemistry.

Teamwork and thinking skills are vital to any science lab, maybe you could tie that in.

So, it sounds like you:

Tested Earth's gravitational field.

Studied the effects of atmospheric gases on the cardiovascular system.

Studied the effect of solar radiation on the human epidermis.

Studied the velocity of locomotion on the Earth's surface.

Studied the effect of cathode radiation on the human retina.

Is there anything here that you can expand upon?
