I guess because the writers have nothing better to do. I am with you I think it is sick. Family is family blood relations or not. I guess they are to cheap to hire someone new that would be in the right age limit for max. They had him intrested in Abby for a week ,and that wasnt so bad.

Well he and stephanie never grew up together. It's not like they were side by side todlers up to teens. Max wasn't adopted into the family until he was almost a teen himself. You should be asking why are they pairing Samie up with her rappist....... thats something I find very weird.

it's just the way it goes when you only have 2 major families and not more families getting brought in to the mix.
