Other than what part of the world, what's the difference?

There isnt a scientific difference. Being in the Atlantic or Pacific is the difference.

That is the difference. Part of the world calls it a hurricane (Ex: America) while a different part calls it a typhoon (Ex: Philippines).

There is only one difference and you don't need scientific explanation for it, it is location, West of the International Dateline it is Typhoons, East of the dateline is hurricane, just that simple. Other than that, there is no other difference.
