Its the place where's there is more constant sunlight. The further south or north you go, the amount of sunlight will change according to the time of the year.
I am living very near to the equator but the place is not "cooked" yet. Constant temp of around 30 degree celius daily, rainy and humidity of almost 90% daily.

Not really dude!. Places around the equator experiece rain every afternoon. It's basically humid, cause of transpiration from the forest. The ever growing desert are the cooking points on earth. Libya recorded 61 degrees celcuis in 1922, and global warmimg was not a threat at point of time. Now you could imagine in the furture. It could go to 120 degrees celcius.

No;The equator is the place where the cloud covering is found most of the days in a year and the rain also occurs frequently. That is why the tropical forests are very thick and large which are found in Africa and South America.

You would think so... However there are warmer/dryer places on the earth than the equator. Has to do with Geology of the Earth.
In short, yes its hot there.
