Well It is important for others to get the best answer because our society is all about status and who knows more, who does ____ better, etc. Honestly No I did not answer this question with the intent to be chosen.

I anser questions to feel like I have something valuable to contribute.. not b/c I want to be the best, I just want to be somebody. Which is why a lot of people say and do anything in this life, imo

"Best Answer" is about the only reward Yahoo Answers provides. I can't speak for everyone, but it is nice to be picked as a best answer. In baseball, the average batter gets a hit less than one out of three at bats. He always goes up to bat looking for a hit anyway. Same with "Best Answer".

to some is an affirmation of their wisdom, it's something else to others, if people answer just for the sole purpose of getting the best answers, then there's ALOT of disappointed people in this community, we answer so that we share what we know, expecting nothing
