by the way he didn't choke on food...it was a piece of a toy he managed to get off....
the doctor said it scratched his throat but it wasn't permanent damage and it's supposed to have healed already...

You will need to call his pediatrician and they will instruct you on what to do...they will probably want to have and office visit as well.

How sweet of you to be concerned about your baby brother! Mom & Dad should probably have the pediatrician take a peek in hs throat and maybe even his esophagus to ensure it is completely clear. Your brother is probably just associating the choking incident with his bigger boy foods. Offer him his bottle or sippy cup, and soft foods like applesauce.

It is important to remember that some high risk items include grapes and hotdogs, so be sure little brother doesn't eat those foods anytime too soon.

I agree with everyone else. He's temporarily traumatized and wasn't ready for whatever it was you gave him, that's all. All babies have setbacks. Be patient with him and I would suggest giving him Pediasure or back to formula, since he still needs his nutrients. If he goes for a day or two like this, call the doctor and the nurse will give you advice on what to do or whether you need to bring him in. I swear, I was on the phone with the pediatritician's office like once a week when my son was that young. They are always ready to give you some advice. If you are truly that worried about it, give them a call first thing in the morning.

He's probably just scared that he'll choke again. Give him soft food like yogurt and do your best to assure him that he'll be okay, and he can't choke on that kind of stuff. Eat a spoon full and show him that it's okay.

Relax, leave him alone. He will eat! Don't make the choking event even more traumatic by pressuring him to eat before he is ready. Then start with thin milkshakes and very soft foods. He will let you know when he is ready.

Solids aren't even necessary at 9 months of age. Just let him nurse as much as he wants until his throat feels better and he'll want to eat solids again soon enough. Meanwhile, the breastmilk will be plenty for him.

He's scared right now because he remembers chocking. It wont take long untill he's ready to try foods again. In the mean time Im sure your mom or dad is making sure he gets enough formula/breast milk to meet his needs. Trust me when he's hungry enough he'll eat again. Glad to know he's ok.

he probably hurt his throat, i would give him some blueberry yogurt or whatever his afvorite fruits are. Rubbing a touch on his lips will help. Limit his fluids tho cause if he drinks all day he'll feel full and won't want to eat.
Good Luck!

he is frightened on the incident that happened to him.
if ur latin u may have heard about the egg on body technique it rubs off the scare he has..i know weird but my mom does it on my baby bro and voila he is no longer scared.

try the train method and fun little games while u feed him, make him trust you and be comfortable:)
try feeding him nice adn subtle foods like smahed bannanas..etc
talk to your doctor because it could also be that he hurt his throat and he just doesnt want to deal with the pain...they will know what to do

Take him to the dr. immediately. There may be enough room for air to get through, but not food or formula. Keep offering him liquids and get him to the dr.

Give him plenty of liquids (formula, water). And, put soft finger foods on his highchair (bananas). Go back to stage2 baby foods. Rub them on his lips, start w/ fruits as they are sweet and he'll open up to them (prunes, peaches). No more BIG BOY foods until he can chew better!!!
