My twins are 7 months old, and I know with my 2 year old son, it was so easy to get him to use a sippy cup right off. This isnt the case with my twins, everytime i offer their milk in a sippy cup, they refuse or don't know how to suck from it. How can I teach them to use this? Or, do I just have to wait until they are ready??

7 months is too early. Babies need to suck, it's what they do. It's comforting for them.

I got the sippy cups they sell that have the soft tops. That way they can press down on it some like the nipple of a bottle. Then I just started switching in some of the regular sippy cups, and now she doesn't even take a bottle. I hope this helps. I think Gerber and Playtex both make versions of this cup. It will be their "Level 1" (I'm pretty sure that's what they called it....

I got the sippy cups from Walmart with a silicone nipple...similar to a bottle. It's soft for them to suck on.Some babies are different though. My daughter was 2 before I got her off the bottle, and I have a 10 month old that has been drinking froma sippy cup for 1 month already.

Just keep offering it to them daily. They'll get the hang of it, or heck, offer them a cup.Maybe they will go straight to a cup from a bottle. Either way...good luck!!

I only give my twins sippy cups with water - only because it was so hard to get them to drink milk out of it - and at nearly 16mnths they still wont.
It did take them a while to get adjusted to it, so i put it out with them through the day, and they would get curious and try to play with it. Eventually they learnt what its for and how the use it.
7 months may be a little bit young - BUT really if u think your babys ready (cos i know some are)- just keep trying

I would wait until they are a little older, maybe around 11-12 months. I bottle broke my daughter at 12 months with the hard tipped sippy cups by using strawberry milk for the first week. She as been bottle broke for a month now.

Your doing large! My daughter began the sippy cup at 6 months besides we besides the fact that needed a company distinction in sippy cup and bottle, The bottle would be eradicated at twelve months in any case considering you will no longer do formula, you may supply her different juices or water interior the sippy cup yet be optimistic to ask your ped earlier doing cows milk because of the fact they actually do in comparison to you to introduce it till a minimum of 9 months below supervision or 3 hundred and sixty 5 days once you eliminate formula. Defenatly do no longer replace any of her general formula feedings with cows milk she nonetheless needs the nutrients contemporary in formula for now. Have a large 4th

avent makes a cup for 6 mo and up that is soft and flexible, it is worth a try. my two sons both transitioned easily with this sippy cup. however, my daughter is 20 months and will not drink out of sippy cups at all, she insists on a straw. give it time, you will figure something out that works!

I offer Noah a sippy cup w/ each meal. I put water in it instead of milk. I use the Gerber brand cup. We also own Nuby cups. You may have to try a few different brands to see which 'top' they prefer.

for now, just lay them around the house, so they can practice using them... like toys :-)

i also reccomend a transition cup - it has a soft spout, but it is the same shape as a sippy.

im glad you're taking the initiative! alot of parents dont even give thier kids a chance anymore - its sickening. i see 3 year olds with bottles at the mall, and i just gag. they must think i am wierd for having my 18 month old on sippys and cups with straws!

My seven month old grandson is in that transision stage now. My daughter found these new sippy cups that have a kind of nipple at the end. I think they're made by Gerber.

7 months is a little young, but you can give it to them whenever they are in their highchair, with just a small amount of liquid in it. They will bang it, and play with it...but at that age, everything goes into the mouth. Eventually, they will learn to drink from it.
