this could indicate a swollen muscle, tendon or ligament. Your mother is going to have to see a medical doctor as soon as possible. If she is in that much pain she should be taken to the emergency room immediately. There's no reason for her to suffer.

i get those all the time in my legs, like a shooting pain the muscle turns hard and gets a big knot. Usually it's just a charlie horse and I walk it out and it goes away on it's own after a day or two. Usually I just take an asprin or a tylenol for the pain. You're really not supposed to massage your legs (blood clots in your legs and be very dangerous) so I wouldn't do anything like that.

If it doesn't go away or start to at least feel a little bit better on it's own, she might want to see a doctor.

Sometimes charlie horses also happen because you don't get enough potassium. but it sounds like she just strained her muscles from heavey lifting.

Your mother from what i can picture in my head is either A. got a swollen muscle, ligament, or tendon, or B. it also very may well be a small tumor. GET HER TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM AS SOON A POSSIBLE! Her leg needs immediate medical attention and it could get very worse without it needing too. as soon as you read your answers talk to your mother or father about getting there soon. Trust my i am State certified with these kinds of things.

This can indicate something is really wrong. The longer she waits, the more she risks not being able to use the leg. She should go see a doctor.

Good luck honey!

What you're describing could also be a blood clot, which is NOTHING to fool around with. Get her to the doctor, please.
