I assume you'll be using it for fatheads or minnows.... make sure it's watertight - if there are any internal parts that look like they have a seam, You'll need to get some aquarium sealant (I know they sell it at ACE hardware stores) and let it cure for 48 hours, then all you need to do is let the cooler get cold (with the lid closed {another 24 hours}) and fill it up with water. When you fill it up LEAVE THE TOP OPEN or else the water will freeze, you only want it to be ice cold, not ice. You'll need to get a powerful in-tank filter to keep the water clean. Once the water is cold, and you have let it cycle for at least 1 week, then you can add the fish.

Hope this helps!

Not sure what you are using for bait but see if this helps =)

Fill the cooler half way up with crushed ice(drain the water as the ice melts)
Wet a lot of newspaper pages with saltwater
Cover the ice completely with the newspapers
Place your bait on top of the papers
Close the top and take out as needed.

They should be fine and perk back up when they hit the water.

I have rigged one up before, it is pretty easy. You obviously need a container, the next most important thing is a battery operated airator. The hardest part is keeping the water cool. I used those solid blue ice packs, make sure they are not leaking. What you do it drill a hole in the lid, a smidge smaller than the hose so there is a very tight fight. You can also build a side compartment for the airator. Thats about it.
