The warranty is always a gamble. The mfg. gambles it won't break, the odds are on his side. You gamble that it will, to save on repairs. 17K is not a ton of miles. I've got 16.5K on my '06. Your's didn't get ridden much at all.

Skip the warranty, put the money into a savings account. Use that money for routine maintenance and odds are you won't run out for 3 years. 17k used to be a lot of miles, but anymore, the bikes are a lot like cars. They are good for 80k miles or more. I put 13k on my performance built Harley last year. A stock suzuki is good for a lot of miles.

Well the warranty company has done a statistical analysis of that type of bike (car what ever). They have figured out that by offering you the warranty at that price they will be able to not only cover the risk, but make money doing it too.
So odds are you will spend far less than that on repair cost over the period of the warranty.
Its up to you

I wouldn't. save your $$ for modifications
The bike will last awhile, just continue the maintenance and don't trash your bike out. Keep it on 2 wheels if you can and don't ride the thing in the city but in your helmet your on the track.

How much did you buy it for?
Buying a warranty on a used item is really a debation depending on how much you paid for it.
