Pretty sure there are eggs also in your apartment just waiting to hatch.

LOL. One time at school, a roach crawled out of my bookbag. It was soooo embarassing. But, I didn't have roaches. I have wondered the same thing. If I go like a week without washing dishes or something, then yes; I'll see a roach and maybe some ants. But then once you clean up, you usually don't see anymore.

If you start seeing lots of them in different rooms, and when there's nothing to attract them, it's time to consider calling an exterminator. Also, if your neighbors have roaches, they may come into your place too.

Generally speaking, staying tidy (keeping the kitchen clean including sweeping up the little crumbs from the corners, emtyping the garbage and general cleanliness) and having spray or some of those plug-in things that generate waves or something to keep bugs away should be okay.

Yep, better call your landlord, make them get an exterminator out there. That is the biggest problem with apartments, if one of your neighbors gets them, they will spread every where. They just creep me out, my aunt keeps getting them, when I go to her house after I leave, I leave my shoes outside for days and put my clothes in the wash as soon as I get home.
