I know I am generalizing somewhat - but just curious to know where the rivalry originaly stemmed from?

I believe it was because during WWI, the Americans were throwing dynomite at the Canadians....
The Canadians were lighting it and throwing it back.
ps, I'm an American. If I have to make myself the butt of my own joke to help international relations, then it's worth it. I know many wonderful Canadians.

I don't think we hate Canadians-I mean I've never heard anyone say that. Perhaps it's because DeGrassi has made great strides toward uniting the two countries... at least with people 40 and under!

I don't know why or when or where it stemmed from but I live in Washington and I love Canadians. Don't care for the French, tho! (just kidding, love the French,too)

I really have no idea, the people I have asked who dislike Canadians kinda say it as if they were picking on someone because they're short or something stupid like that, so no reason I guess, I don't like them any less than anyone else including other Americans

I've never noticed that. I always thought it was the other way around. I have a few Canadian friends that I really like, I've never had a problem with Canadians.

We don't hate them, we just think they are a little weird. They can't figure out if they are Brits, or French.
