Oscars generally grow about an inch a month for their first 8 months or so, so in 6 months, you are looking at an 8 inch fish. Consider that all fish are genetically different, so, you may have a slow grower, or your fish might grow 3 inches in his first month. Foods that are high in protein will help speed up his growth.

My oscar is a beast... LOL.. He's actually Bit me numerous times... and is now to the point I feed him Nightcrawlers and raw hamburger meat, etc... He's pretty ferocious if you ask me.. I'm rather scared of him too... I dread cleaning his tank and don't even bother taking my bare hand to pick him up because he's too big for a net now.. His fins have cut me before too since I'm too dumb to know how to handle a fish with fins like that lol... One thing is for sure, when he dies I won't be flushing him down the toilet.. He'd stop it up... lol... Goodluck with yours!!!

about the size of the palm of your hand. maybe bigger that is a pretty big tank and they grow faster in a big tank. and also depends on what you feed it. i used to feed mine small fishing minnows when it was bigger.
