I understnad why people use them especially for toddlers. But rather thna using a leas people should try parenting skills and stop resorting to the easy way out that is convenenient for them. Its called laziness and lazy people do lazy things, like for example: putting your little baby on a leash becuase YOU don't feel like looking after them 100% of the time. My daughter will run around everywhere but I discipline her so she knows what not to do. Thats a little bit smarter and less juvenile than putting a LEASH on your child. I think its irresponsible and lazy, as if I haven't said it before. Try parenting people then you can save your self the toddler on a leash.

LOl my mo is talking about my Twins on this Question! Yes I have two Lil bear harnesses that They will use when they hit 18 months for now I hold there hands but i cant let go of them because my ones will run one way and my Daughter the other. If your talking about an actual Dog leash hell no that is too much but something cute and fun so the children like it I'm all for I'd rather keep my twins safe then see them get hit by a car, or kidnapped by some waxy *** person !

i don't have kids but i have siblings that my dog is better trained then. i keep telling my mom to get them leashes but she doesn't. but i wouldn't put my own kids on a leash (i don't even want kids) it would make me look like a bad/weird parent. my aunt use to put my cousin on a leash while in the air port when he was a toddler though. that i under stand

when they are little and your somewhere like a mall or amusement park or a parade; i think it's a good idea so you don't lose them in a crowd, they could climb out of a stroller and be gone before you know it, you could feel the leash tightening. there is so much commotion at those type of events. i just don't like the idea of over-usage, in more controlled environments they shouldn't be used, the children do need to learn about boundaries and not just from a leash. i think it's name is what freaks people out, they automatically think dog and how could you!~♥~

You know, I'm really torn on the subject. On one hand I think it looks really demeaning. But on the other hand, what better way to guarantee you not loose your child? I mean I know people are like "You should just be a responsible parent and watch your child at all times" , which is true , BUT I'm talking about places like Disneyland and big theme parks, carnivals, places like that that are really crowded and full of people with a lot going on at once. In situations like tr hat there are so many variables to consider and Mom's know, it only takes a split second and they can be off and running or mixed up in a sea of people. Especially when you have more than 1 small child!
And even though that's a great argument to use one, I still don't ever see myself actually doing it. I just can't, and I think that the public would persecute me, and pass major judgment. And even though that shouldn't bother me, I think I would. Not as many people as you might think use the kid leashes.
Good luck with your venture

Love this question!!! I too hated seeing little kids harnessed like some type of wild animal, thought it looked so inhumane, but since then I've changed my mind once I've had my two...talk about hyper and frisky or fast...Oh boy, my younger kid is just that. He tries to 'escape' every time we're out in public together and he would keep on running if not pursued. I can't count how many episodes and embarrassing as well as funny moments I've been through with my kid...He hilarious, but a little too hyper to keep up with, and he's smart as heck!! Just last week I've had one or two break aways. I need to seek a preschool that can fully facilitate his need to be busy as well as one that is totally secured. Harnesses...I'm for...at least now...lol. But still don't have one...I sadly confused...Yet still sadly, something about the look still seems to bother me. Sure it looks demeaning as well as humiliating, guess that's why I don't use one, usually I just have a good talk with my kid before leaving the car to go into public places. If misbehavior kicks in, toys get taken away as well as promise for new ones..Still buy them anyhow, I weak for my kids.

first of all i do not have children, so i am always saying what i would or would not do like im the perfect parent or something. but i do not see anything wrong with a leash if you are in a crowded place like a theme park or mall. little kids can run off pretty fast.
but like i said, what do i know?

No! I think a child can either be disciplined to be obedient or can be restrained in a stroller. Leashes look terrible on children.

A harness, yes. A leash like a dog leash, No.
If you saw my twin grandchildren you would need to use steel cages :-)
