They do have a parlimentary democracy. But they are in turmoil now, because the people have voted an Islamic party into power. Many people fear that an Islamic regime will turn the country from a democracy into a theocracy, and change Turkey into a mirror of Iran or other radical country.

The military was very upset and made some noises about overthrowing the govt. Europe is very worried, because Turkey is the weakest EU member, and if they became an Islamic state is would be very controversial.

Turkey is a republic with parliamentary system.

As for the above answerer Turkey is not a member of EU.
