Use the chlortrimazole suppository or the Kolorex cream or oral Diflucan or Monistat cream or suppository that the doctor ordered. Drink a lot of water to flush out your system. Drink lots of cranberry juice. It's good for UTI. and yeast infections. You may use OTC antifungal infection cream. Personal hygiene is very impt. Cleanse post voiding and after sex. Cleanse from forward to backwards. After BM, avoid contaminating from the anus area to the vagina. Avoid using tampons for awhile. That makes it a breeding ground for yeast. Do not use douches, feminine sprays, or deodorants. Avoid sex for awhile until the infection clears up.

Precautions to prevent recurrent yeast infections:

1)Always wear white cotton panties. Nylon and Lycra may trap air and create a breeding ground for yeast. Never wear panty hose alone -- always wear cotton panties underneath.

2)Never use petroleum-based lubricants for vaginal lubrication during sexual intercourse. Always use water-based lubricants when vaginal dryness is an issue.

3)Always wipe from front to back after a bowel movement to prevent the yeast which normally inhabits the intestinal tract from being transferred to the vaginal area.

4)Eating one cup of yogurt a day helps some women prevent the yeast infections that often follow antibiotic treatment; however, eating yogurt will not cure a yeast infection

4) Don't use perfumed bath products or powders in the vaginal area, these can cause irritations which can lead to infection.

5)Don't use douches! Douches wash away the natural protective mucous of the vagina leaving the vagina more susceptible to yeast and other vaginal infections.

Tips:
Before you get a yeast infection decide if you prefer prescription or over-the counter (OTC) treatment.
At the first sign of yeast infection call your physician for prescribed medication, or go to your pharmacy to buy one of the FDA approved products that are available OTC.

Never self-treat a yeast infection unless you have previously been diagnosed for a yeast infection by a healthcare professional.

Always call a healthcare professional for diagnosis if you are not sure a subsequent infection is yeast. Other vaginal infections or STDs may have similar symptoms.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

You need to continue using the medication until all symptoms are gone. If you try something else, you risk the chance of flaring it back up due to irritation. If the medication is what has helped you so far...stick with it until it is completely gone (symptoms wise.) If there is still some swelling, that tells you that it is not completely healed/cured...stick with it.

check with your Doc, most OTC creams should do the trick and Monistat makes wipes with aloe, those are great (personal experience!)
