I used to have the most painful and heavy periods of all people i think. There were several occasions when I actually passed out on the bathroom floor. I was 10 when i got my perioid and I went thru sanitary napkins like they were going out of style. I was always white as a ghost, from being anemic and i always felt cold and weak. I would be sitting down, and as soon as i got up, i would feel a rush/ gushing of blood, sometimes it would stream down my leg. I was always terrified of getting my period. Thank God for tampons.

Aww you're cute. I've had a period for about 10 years now and it took me 5 years just to have to courage to talk about it because it was so personal to me. It's completely normal and means that you have reached a maturer stage of life, though you are still a child so don't get carried away with that info lol. I'm still to this day learning new things relating to it but my best advice would be to from now on always carry an extra pad in your bookbag or purse and avoid dairy around that time because the cramps tend to be worse. Basically whatever can irritate the stomach on a normal day can cause even more pain during a menstruation (period).

I'm 33 and have had periods for 22 years.
First, do NOT let your period run your life! Don't go "omg I will have my period what to do?"... Grab some tampons and pads and enjoy your life.
Second, if you plan on going into the water on your period, wear a tampon! No tampon means NO swimming.
If you have severe cramps or bleed quite heavily, birth control pills will help alleviate that.
Make sure you get a pap smear soon. IMO you should get one when you start menstruating and BEFORE you plan on having sex. I had a pap at age 11 when I first started my period.
Don't be embarrassed about your period. Everyone knows in elementary school health class that girls menstruate.
OH, and not everyone knows when you are on your period. I felt very self conscious at first thinking everyone knew I was on my period, but its not true.

well when im on my period, i have very strange dreems. one time i had a dream that i was in candyland and had to play the game to get out of it lol. other things i get really bad cramps, i feel sick, crave chocolate, eat more then usual, and i am sometimes very sensative i could sometimes cry if someone just looked at me wrong. lol almost anyting can really happen. use safe sex, never wear white at that time, always have extra pads or tampons ready even if you think your done sometimes is may skip a day and you think your done. keep your stress level done it can make you miss a period or cause extremely bad cramps and anything else. just try to relax when your on your period. always keep some midale or pamprin with you they help the best.

well ive got one that was passed down lol mom mom when she first started she thought she was dying then told her little sister (my aunt) and she started bawling which got her parents to notice the situation and she was talked to (haha she thought she was dying lol) for me on the other hand i new it was going to come sooner or later and was dreading the fact and when it finnally did i got all pissed at myself for some reason when i finnally got the guts to tell my mom (pass the embarrassment) she goes and tells my dad (who was already in town) and then she tells my grandma. my grandma comes and gives me like a bag full of supplies and asks me if i know how to put them on. even worse she asked that in front of my brother. later my dad then comes home with supplies not knowing my grandma had stopped by and at the end of the day i had enough to last me like a year. and boy was it a pain in the butt hidding them (the embarrassment) and while im trying to hide them my mom comes in my room and trys to give me "the talk" when i already know everything. the most embarrassing day of my life even worse then when i ripped my pants at school.
im 15 and have had it for about a year and a half to two

oh wow..you're going to have the damn thing for 40 years!! It will become your monthly best friend!! That is, unless you start having babies -- then you won't have it for your 10-month pregnancy!! Enjoy!! Then when you're 50ish, it goes away and you can be really really happy!!
